Short Description
Problem
Sometimes system or network administrators prefer to install software without the worry of an end-user interrupting or changing the installation process. Silent installations allow administrators to perform a typical installation of their software without displaying any installation dialog boxes or prompts.
Solution
To perform a silent installation of your VFO software, you can simply use the /type silent command line parameter in the Run dialog box. The instructions below are basically the same whether installing on an individual end-user’s computer, or as a network installation.
- Press WINDOWS Key+R to open the Run dialog box.
- Select the “Browse” button.
- Navigate to the installation executable file. This file could be a downloaded trial or update, or the setup.exe file on your product CD or DVD.
- Once the correct file is highlighted, select “Open”.
- Navigate to the edit box, then press the END key to place the cursor at the end of the file name.
- Press the SPACEBAR once to add a space after the double quotes, then add /type silent at the end.
For example: "C:\Users\User Name\Downloads\J2018.1808.10.400-enu-x64.exe" /type silent - Select OK to start the installation.
The installation will start with no indication on the screen. To use the installed application, the computer must be rebooted when enough time has elapsed for the installation to complete.
NOTE: To view other available command line parameters, use /help and /morehelp parameters.
For example:
"C:\Users\User Name\Downloads\J2018.1808.10.400-enu-x64.exe" /help
"C:\Users\User Name\Downloads\J2018.1808.10.400-enu-x64.exe" /morehelp
