Use JAWS Quick Navigation Keys to Navigate Web Pages
July 22, 2025
2025 marks the 30th anniversary of JAWS for Windows. To celebrate the occasion, we’re visiting notable features available in JAWS. One such feature is Quick Navigation Keys, which were first introduced in 2002. These are single-letter shortcuts that make it easier and faster to move through web pages using JAWS. Instead of navigating line by line or tabbing through every element, you can press a letter key to jump directly to a specific type of content like headings, links, tables, form fields, or buttons.
Objectives:
In this session, we’ll talk about some of the most common Quick Navigation Keys, how to use them, and how to navigate the web in general. We’ll also show you how to:
- Navigate by heading
- Links
- Form fields
- Lists
- Same and different elements
- Tables
- Regions
- Locate a list of Quick Navigation Keys on the FS Training page
- Use Surf’s Up
