23 Using the JAWS cursor The JAWS Cursor is very useful when working in Windows. It corresponds to the system mouse. The JAWS Cursor is used to manipulate the system mouse, read static text to which the PC Cursor does not have access, and to access other parts of Windows to which the PC Cursor cannot be moved. To turn on the JAWS cursor, press insert minus. To turn on the PC cursor again, press numpad plus. Using the mouse buttons. Say active cursor, alt delete. Mouse down, up, left, and right. Discuss the JAWS cursor restrictions. There are four levels. Application window restriction is the default. Current window restriction, useful for staying within a particular control or part of an existing window. Frame restriction, restricted to the current frame (you have to define frames, of course). Unrestricted, allows movement over the entire screen, not restricted to windows that may be open. Toggle with insert R.
