These 11 commands are the foundation from which you will become familiar with your PAC Mate. Before you start your PAC Mate for the first time, insert the battery, plug the AC adaptor into a wall outlet and then plug the other end into PAC Mate using the jack in the upper right corner of the case. Next, press the on/off switch toward the left to turn on the unit. This is a spring-loaded switch that returns to a neutral position. To indicate that it is on, the PAC Mate uses an audible low high sound. Pressing the switch toward the right will turn the unit off and PAC Mate will emit a high low sound. Installing Active Synch: With Microsoft ActiveSync(r), you can synchronize the information on your desktop computer with the information on your PAC Mate. Synchronization compares the data on your PAC Mate with the data on your desktop and updates each computer with the most recent changes. To get started synchronizing, follow these steps: 1. Make sure that you have Microsoft Outlook(r) 2000 or later on your desktop or portable computer. Outlook 2000 is included on the Companion CD. (You must have Outlook 2000 or higher. ActiveSync does not work with Outlook Express.) 2. Be sure your PAC Mate is NOT connected to your desktop. Install ActiveSync onto your desktop from the Companion CD. Insert the Pocket PC Companion CD into the CD-ROM drive of our desktop PC, TAB to the Start Here button and press ENTER. Then follow the directions on your screen. 3. Once ActiveSync is installed, connect your PAC Mate to the USB port of your computer. The Found New Hardware Wizard will start and recognize the new device. Be sure "Search for a suitable driver for my device" is selected and press NEXT. Be sure that the "CD-ROM Drives" check box is checked and press NEXT to install the USB driver for the PAC Mate. After installation is complete, the ActiveSync Setup Wizard helps you connect your device to your desktop computer, set up a partnership, and customize your synchronization settings. Your first synchronization will start automatically when you finish using the wizard.
