PAC Mate TNS Quick Start Cards February 2003 Copyright Freedom Scientific Inc. Quick Start Steps Getting Started Using Your PAC Mate *The minimum e-mail client is Outlook 2000, which you can install from the PAC Mate Companion CD. If you have this version or Outlook 2002, jump to step 1. 1. Plug in the PAC Mate using the wall adaptor. 2. Put the PAC Mate Companion CD in your CD drive and install ActiveSync on your desktop PC. 3. Once ActiveSync is installed, connect the PAC Mate to the PC using a USB cable. 4. When the Found New Hardware Wizard appears, let Windows search for a driver for this new device. Make sure that "Search CD drives" is selected. Windows will then find and install this new driver. 5. ActiveSync will prompt you on your PC to ask if you want to create a Partnership. Select yes. 6. A wizard walks you through the first synchronization. Your PAC Mate will now have loaded your e-mail, tasks, contacts and other information from your PC. Keyboard Orientation and Basic Commands The PAC Mate TNS uses a QWERTY Keyboard, which includes all the keys available for quick access to frequently used features. The bottom row, from left to right, includes: FN, CTRL, Windows Logo Key, ALT, Backslash, SPACEBAR, INS, ALT, Windows Logo Key, and the Application Key. The 12 Function Keys follow the Escape Key, which is the first key on the left in the top row. To help you stay oriented, there are 3 finger bumps on the TNS surface, above and between Function Keys: F4 and F5, F8 and F9, F12 and the PrtSc Key. The arrow keys are in the lower right corner of the keyboard with the Up Arrow above the other three arrows. Five of the keys normally located in the "Six Pack" are located along the right side of the keyboard. From top to bottom, these are DELETE, HOME, PAGE UP, PAGE DOWN and END.
