PAC Mate User's Documentation CD

Welcome to PAC Mate, a line of personal computers from Freedom Scientific Blind Low Vision Group.

PAC Mate combines the Windows® Pocket PC platform with JAWS® screen reading technology providing blind users access to off-the-shelf personal data software. In addition, PAC Mate offers today's most powerful connectivity options making it the most comprehensive, customizable, portable information management tool ever created.

We are pleased to provide this Owner's Manual CD containing all of the documentation and information you will need to get started with your PAC Mate. Many of the files on this CD are quite large and you may not want to load them into your PAC Mate. Rather, we recommend you open them from the CD or Copy the entire set of files and folders to your desktop PC.

PAC Mate Tutorial

MP3 files included in the Tutorial folder provide an audio tutorial experience for novice users of the PAC Mate. To listen to these files, you will need an audio player such as Winamp or Windows Media Player. For more information about Winamp, go to www.winamp.com.

WinPrint

The new WinPrint .exe for the PC or laptop now makes it easy to share the information you create on your notetaker with your sighted colleagues. Previously it was necessary to have a character-based printer to print your notetaker files. Now, all you need to do is transfer your brl file to the PC using any traditional means, and WinPrint uses whatever printer is installed on the PC to print out a formatted document. WinPrint recognizes all format characters documented in your notetaker's onboard help.

  1. Copy the file WinPrint.exe from the WINPrint folder on the CD to your PC.
  2. Transfer your notetaker file to the PC.
  3. Select and open a brl file - WinPrint automatically launches.
  4. Press CTRL+P to print the file.
