Driver Information: |
- This scanner was tested
using drivers from the MiraScan 3.4 installation CD.
MiraScan 4.03 are available, but they will cause an
external dialog to display during every scan through
OpenBook.
|
|
Test Results: |
- Is
scanning free of any external dialogs?
No. Using MiraScan
3.4 drivers, when this scanner has been idle for a
while, an external dialog will display.
However, the dialog unloads gracefully and returns
focus back to OpenBook. Using the newer MiraSCan
4.03, an external Twain dialog will display during
every single scan.
- Can
this scanner scan a legal-sized document? No.
Without an ADF and only an 11.7 inch scanning area,
there is no way to scan legal-sized documents.
- Using this scanner,
can a user change the scanning contrast from within
OpenBook? Yes.
Contrast can be altered using OpenBook, except under
Windows XP. This scanner works best under XP
while using the WIA drivers. Using these drivers
will not permit manual contrast adjustment.
- Using this scanner,
can a user cancel scanning from within OpenBook?
Yes.
Scanning can be canceled through OpenBook. In
some cases, this scanner may require it's physical
scanning process to completely finish before the scan
is actually canceled.
- Can this scanner
scan in the background? Yes.
This scanner can 'scan in the background'. However,
in cases where an external dialog is displayed, the
user will need to return focus back to OpenBook and
reinitiate the reading process. When no external
dialog is displayed, then background scanning is uninterrupted.
- Did
this scanner pass the 500 page stress test?
Yes. This scanner successfully scanned 500
consecutive pages.
- How long does this
scanner take to scan a page using OpenBook’s default
settings? This
scanner is a bit on the slow side. Its average
scan time with OpenBook's default settings was about
40 seconds.
|
|
Notes: |
- This scanner offers
a USB interface. Acer states that this scanner
is supported by Windows 98 and 2000. However,
the stated results were also displayed in Windows
ME and XP.
- Note the drivers data
stated above.
- Under Windows XP, OpenBook
may default to "No Scanner". Users
will want to change this so that OpenBook uses the
WIA drivers when scanning.
- It is recommended that
users download the latest version of
TwainScn.ini and save it to OpenBook's installation
directory. This will update OpenBook's list
of known scanners, which includes this scanner.

|
Driver
Information: |
- This scanner was tested
using drivers from the ScanGear 6.01 installation
program.
|
|
Test Results: |
- Is scanning free
of any external dialogs?
External dialogs are displayed in Windows 98, ME,
or 2000. These are periodic
calibration and lamp dialogs that may interrupt
speech, but do not require any user intervention.
In Windows XP, these dialogs do not display because
of the WIA drivers that are installed when running
Windows XP.
- Can this scanner
scan a legal-sized document? No.
Without an automatic document feeder (ADF) and only
an 11.7 inch scanning area, there is no way to scan
legal-sized documents.
- Using this scanner,
can a user change the scanning contrast from within
OpenBook?
Contrast can be altered through OpenBook in Windows
98, ME, and 2000, but not in Windows XP.
This is due to the WIA drivers that are installed
when running Windows XP.
- Using this scanner,
can a user cancel scanning from within OpenBook?
Yes.
However, in Windows 98, ME, or 2000, canceling a
scan immediately after initiating a scan will cause
the head to sit out of position. The next
scan will result in a Canon error. In Windows
XP, canceling a scan in the middle of scanning will
stop the page from being recognized in OpenBook,
but the scanner will continue to scan the the rest
of the page.
- Can this scanner
scan in the background?
Yes. This scanner can scan in the background.
However, the periodic dialogs discussed previously
may interrupt reading while scanning in the background.
- Did this scanner
pass the 500 page stress test?
Yes. This scanner was able to scan 500 consecutive
pages.
- How long does this
scanner take to scan a page using OpenBook’s default
settings?
The Canon D646U was very slow, taking up to 55 seconds
to scan a page.
|
|
Notes: |
- The Canon D646U is
USB only and is supported in Windows 98, ME, 2000,
and XP.
-
The Canon only scans the first 11” of the 11.7”
flatbed. Any
text beyond the first 11” will not be scanned.

CanoScan D1250U2F |
|
Driver Information: |
- This scanner was tested
using drivers from the ScanGear 6.01 installation
program. However, in Windows XP, this scanner
was also tested with the Canon-supplied WIA 1.2.0
drivers. Unlike other Canon models, the WIA
drivers are not installed automatically, so note the
different results in the Test Results section below.
This may assist you in determining which drivers are
best suited for you needs if using this scanner with
OpenBook in Windows XP.
|
|
Test Results: |
- Is scanning free
of any external dialogs? If
using the ScanGear 6.01 drivers, then a Lamp Adjustment
dialog will display on every scan. This dialog
takes focus away from OpenBook. However, in
Windows XP, users may install the optional WIA drivers.
When using the WIA drivers, the lamp adjustment dialog
does not display.
- Can this scanner
scan a legal-sized document? No. Without
an automatic document feeder (ADF) and only an 11.7
inch scanning area, there is no way to scan legal-sized
documents.
- Using this scanner,
can a user change the scanning contrast from within
OpenBook? Contrast
can be altered through OpenBook if using the ScanGear
6.01 drivers. However, in Windows XP, users
can install the optional WIA drivers. When using
the WIA drivers, manual contrast adjustments cannot
be made.
- Using this scanner,
can a user cancel scanning from within OpenBook?
Yes. If
using the ScanGear
6.01 drivers, users should wait for the lamp adjustment
dialog to close and then press the Cancel button on
OpenBook's Scanning Status dialog. Canceling
the Lamp dialog and then canceling OpenBook will cause
OpenBook to hang for a long period, as will canceling
OpenBook's scanning status dialog while the lamp dialog
is still open. However, if using the WIA drivers,
users can cancel a scan at any time, but the scanner
will still physically complete the process before
the user is able to scan again.
- Can this scanner
scan in the background? If
using the ScanGear 6.01 drivers, then previously mentioned
lamp dialog will display on every scan, taking focus
away from OpenBook and interrupting any reading.
However, if using the WIA drivers (Windows XP only),
then users will not receive the lamp dialog and will
not be interrupted after successful background scanning.
- Did this scanner
pass the 500 page stress test? Yes.
This scanner was able to scan 500 consecutive pages.
- How long does this
scanner take to scan a page using OpenBook’s default
settings? The
Canon D12560U2F was very slow, taking up to 53 seconds
to scan a page.
|
|
Notes: |
- The Canon D12560U2F
is USB only, and is supported under Windows 98, ME,
2000, and XP.
- OpenBook behavior varies
depending on which drivers you install. See
Test Results listed above.
- It is recommended that
users download the latest version of
TwainScn.ini and save it to OpenBook's installation
directory. This will update OpenBook's list
of known scanners, which includes this scanner.

Test Results: |
- Is scanning free
of any external dialogs?
No. Periodic calibration dialogs will display
every 80-100 pages, except when you are running Windows
XP. No interaction is required to close the
dialog. However, in OpenBook 6, focus is taken
away from OpenBook on every scan. Pressing ALT+TAB
will not return the focus to OpenBook unless there
is actually another application open to send the focus
to, so you can toggle the focus back to OpenBook.
This problem does not occur in OpenBook 5.x.

interrupt speech while scanning in the background.
Users will have to start scanning first, then reset
the focus back to OpenBook using the method stated
above, and then initialize reading. By that time,
scanning has completed. This is not a problem in OpenBook
5. However, the calibration dialog can still display
every 80-100 pages in both versions, interrupting
reading.
- Did this scanner
pass the 500 page stress test?
Yes. This scanner was able to scan 500 consecutive
pages.

|
|
Test Results: |
- Is scanning free of any
external dialogs? Yes,
but focus is lost during each scan. Focus returns to OpenBook
after scanning is complete, but you must use ALT+TAB
to return to OpenBook in order for it to regain focus quicker.
- Can this scanner scan a
legal-sized document? Yes. This
scanner scans through an automatic
document feeder (ADF) only, so legal-sized documents
can be scanned.
- Using this scanner, can
a user change the scanning contrast from within OpenBook?
Yes. Contrast can
be altered using OpenBook.
- Using this scanner, can
a user cancel scanning from within OpenBook? Yes.
Scanning can be canceled through OpenBook.
- Can this scanner scan in
the background? This scanner does not succeed well when
scanning in the background. This is because focus is lost
during each scan. Focus returns to OpenBook after scanning
is complete, but you must use ALT+TAB to return to
OpenBook in order for it to regain focus quicker. The quickness
of the scans cause you to spend more time pressing ALT+TAB
then working within OpenBook.

Driver information: |
- This scanner was tested using
HP PCS 1610
All-In-One driver (W01_enu).
|
|
Test Results: |
- Is scanning free of any external
dialogs? Yes and
no.
Using the
TWAIN driver, there is an external TWAIN dialog that displays
during the fist scan (only) after the TWAIN driver is
initialized. This dialog closes, but focus is not returned to
OpenBook. Users must ALT+TAB back to OpenBook. This dialog does
not display if using WIA drivers.
- Can this scanner scan a legal-sized
document? No.
This scanner does not have an ADF and only possesses an 11.7"
flatbed.
- Using
this scanner, can a user change the scanning contrast
from within OpenBook? Somewhat.
Using
the TWAIN driver, users can only darken contrast manually.
Using the WIA drivers, users cannot manually alter contrast
at all.
- Using this scanner, can a user
cancel scanning from within OpenBook? Yes.
Scanning can be canceled through OpenBook. However, this
scanner must physically complete the scanning process before
users can scan again. No pages will be
recognized, but this will take a few extra seconds.
- Can this scanner scan in the
background? Yes.
This scanner can 'scan in the background', but, focus loss is
possible due to an external dialog that may display if using the
TWAIN drivers. See the external dialog test results above.
- Did this scanner pass the 500

HP ScanJet 8250
|
|
Driver information: |
- This scanner was tested using the
HP 8200
Series Photo & Imaging drivers v2.2.1.
|
|
Test Results: |
- Is scanning free of any external
dialogs? No. When using the TWAIN driver and scanning from
the automatic document feeder (ADF), an external HP dialog box
displays when the driver initializes. Once initialized, the dialog
box does not display on subsequent ADF scans. When scanning from
the flatbed, an external HP dialog box also displays when the
driver initializes. However, you must select the Must Close TWAIN
after Each Scan option (in the Advanced menu) in order to continue
scanning subsequently on the flatbed. This causes the TWAIN driver
to re-initialize on each scan, resulting in the external HP dialog
box displaying on each scan. In all cases, when the external HP
dialog box closes, it fails to bring focus back to OpenBook, requiring
the user to use ALT+TAB to return to OpenBook. Please read
the Notes section for this scanner for instructions on toggling
the Must Close TWAIN after Each Scan option for optimizing ADF
and flatbed scans.
- Can this scanner scan a legal-sized
document? Yes. The scanning
area is 14 inches long and an automatic document feeder (ADF)
is also available.
- Using
this scanner, can a user change the scanning contrast from within
OpenBook? No. Contrast
cannot be changed for this scanner within OpenBook.
- Using this scanner, can a user
cancel scanning from within OpenBook? Yes.
You can cancel scanning easily through OpenBook.
- Can this scanner scan in the
background? Yes.
This scanner can scan in the background. However, the external
TWAIN dialog boxes may interrupt this process. When the driver
is initialized, an external TWAIN dialog box appears, taking focus
away from OpenBook. The best way to handle background scanning
after an external dialog box appears is to initiate the scan and
then use ALT+TAB to return to OpenBook and begin working
while scanning occurs in the background.
- Did this scanner pass the 500
page stress test?
Yes. This scanner was able to handle the stress of continuous
scanning.
- How long does this scanner take
to scan a page using OpenBook’s default settings?
This scanner's average scan time with OpenBook's default settings
is about 7 seconds.

Notes: |
- The
HP ScanJet 8250 offers a USB interface, and supports Windows 98,
Windows ME, Windows 2000, and Windows XP operating systems.
- Twainscn.ini
was not modified to include this scanner. This is because users
will need to have the default driver names in place so that they
can freely toggle the drivers options. As stated above, an external
HP dialog box appears when this scanner's drivers are initialized.
This happens only once when scanning through the ADF. However,
in order to scan multiple times using the flatbed, you must select
the Must Close TWAIN after Each Scan option. This causes an external
HP dialog box to display on each scan, but this is the only way
to scan multiple times using the flatbed. Therefore, to use this
scanner most efficiently, it is recommended that you leave the
Must Close TWAIN after Each Scan option disabled when scanning
from the ADF and enable the Must Close TWAIN after Each Scan option
when scanning from the flatbed. To enable or disable the Must
Close TWAIN after Each Scan setting perform the following steps:
1. In OpenBook, open the Advanced menu
and choose Scanner Selection.
2. In the Scanner list, make sure that
"Unknown
Twain using: hp scanjet 8200 series TWAIN" is selected.
3. Press the TAB
key until you move to the Must Close TWAIN after Each Scan check
box.
4. Press the SPACEBAR
to toggle the check box according to the type of scan you are going
to perform. If you are using an ADF, clear this check box. If using
the flatbed, make sure this check box is selected.
5. Press
ENTER to accept your changes.

no. If a screen reader is running, then it will virtually
detect the HP interface, even though it is not visible on the
screen. Click here
to view the Support Notice on this. If no screen reader
is in use, then there are no external dialogs that interfere with
scanning.
- Can this scanner scan a legal-sized
document? Yes.
This scanner has an ADF which allows for legal sized scanning.
- Using
this scanner, can a user change the scanning contrast from within
OpenBook? No.
Contrast cannot be changed through OpenBook.
- Using this scanner, can a user
cancel scanning from within OpenBook? Yes.
Scanning can be canceled through OpenBook. However, these
scanners will physically complete the scanning process before
the scanning dialog is actually closed. No pages will be
recognized, but this will take a few extra seconds.
- Can this scanner scan in the
background? Yes.
This scanner can 'scan in the background', but, focus loss is
frequent. If attempting to read a document while scanning
in the background, users will have to set focus back to OpenBook
and reinitiate the reading process. OpenBook will pick up
where it left off when reading was interrupted by focus loss.
Also, reading a document while this scanner is 'scanning in the
background' may result in stuttered speech. This behavior was
sporadic, and may not happen all the time. Also, if using
the WIA drivers, then this scanner may get caught in a scanning
loop. Users may want to avoid using the WIA drivers when
background scanning.
- Did this scanner pass the 500
page stress test? Yes.
This scanner was able to handle the stress of continuous scanning.
- How long does this scanner take
to scan a page using OpenBook’s default settings? About
20 seconds.

However, this driver will also cause OpenBook to fail to recognize
any text successfully. Most other scanners usually recognize text
poorly when scanning with WIA drivers in Windows ME.
- Can this scanner scan a legal-sized
document? No. The scanning area is only 11.7 inches
long. No automatic document feeder (ADF) is available.
- Using

500 page stress test? This scanner does not have
a flatbed, so express batches cannot be scanned continuously.
However, this scanner was able to scan over 500 pages individually.
- How long does this scanner
take to scan a page using OpenBook’s default settings? The average scan
time for these scanners using OpenBook's default settings
is about 40 seconds per page. However, the time shortens
significantly to about 25-30 seconds after switching the
contrast to Normal.
|
|
Notes: |
- When
paper is loaded into the ADF, it is automatically fed partially
into the scanner. OpenBook scanning can fail if activated
before the paper is finished prep-feeding through the ADF.
- Large batches will not empty
a filled ADF. Only one page will scan at a time.
OpenBook prompts you for action after each scan.
- This
scanner does not work with BuckScan because it only uses
an ADF. Bills cannot be fed through.
- You must select the Must Close
TWAIN After Each Scan check box to use Express Batch mode.
It is recommended that you download the latest version of TwainScn.ini and save it to OpenBook's installation
directory. This will update OpenBook's list of known
scanners, which includes this scanner.

- Is scanning free of any

in the foreground and cannot be suppressed by changing the
Lexmark settings. However, pressing ALT+TAB to switch back to OpenBook allows background scanning to
work properly, even though the Lexmark dialog box is still
on the screen. Using the WIA driver, available under Windows XP or ME eliminates
this problem.
- Can this scanner scan a legal-sized document? No. Without an automatic document feeder (ADF), and
with only an 11.7 inch scanning area, there is no way to
scan legal-sized documents.
- Using this scanner, can a user change the scanning contrast
from within OpenBook? No. Contrast cannot be manually altered through OpenBook.
- Using this scanner, can
a user cancel scanning from within OpenBook? Yes. But you must choose Cancel in the external Lexmark
dialog box before choosing Cancel in the OpenBook scanning
dialog box, otherwise the system can become unresponsive.
- Can this scanner scan in
the background? Yes. However, scanning in the background while using the TWAIN driver
put the scanner in an endless scanning loop. Using
the WIA driver, available under Windows XP or ME eliminates
this problem.
- Did this scanner pass the

- As reported by Microtek, the
4700 uses the exact same drivers as the 5700, and both scanners
will behave the same. Freedom Scientific has performed
tests on the 5700 and, based on information from Microtek,
the 4700 can be expected to produce the same results, even
though Freedom Scientific did not specifically test the

- Using this scanner, can
a user cancel scanning from within OpenBook?
When
using the WIA driver (under Windows XP), the scanning head
must finish the physical process, but no pages are recognized.
When using the TWAIN driver, you must choose Cancel in the
external TWAIN dialog box, then activate the OK button in
the Confirmation dialog box, before activating the Cancel
button in the OpenBook dialog box to cancel the scan immediately.
This is especially difficult to perform with a keyboard
if you have previously hidden the external dialog box using

Test Results: |
- Is
scanning free of any external dialogs? Using
the TWAIN driver causes an external dialog to display in
foreground. This affects background scanning. Using the
WIA driver does not cause an external dialog to display.
- Can
this scanner scan a legal-sized document? No.
Without an automatic document feeder (ADF) and only an 11.7
inch scanning area, there is no way to scan legal-sized
documents.
- Using
this scanner, can a user change the scanning contrast from
within OpenBook?
No. You cannot manually change the scanning contrast in
OpenBook.
- Using
this scanner, can a user cancel scanning from within
OpenBook? Using
the WIA drivers, the scanner head must finish its physical
process, but no pages are recognized. When using the
TWAIN driver, which causes an external dialog to display,
you must use ALT+TAB to switch to OpenBook's
scanning dialog and close it to avoid potential errors.
- Can
this scanner scan in the background?
Using the WIA driver, background scanning is easily
performed. However, using the TWAIN driver causes an
external dialog to display. This external dialog will
interrupt speech. You must begin scanning first and

Driver information: |
- This scanner was tested using the

|
Test Results: |
- Is scanning free of any external
dialogs? No. An
external TWAIN dialog box displays during scanning. This dialog
box does not appear in Windows XP or ME if the WIA driver is available
and selected, but you must manually select the WIA driver. This
external dialog box hides the OpenBook dialog box that reports
scanning/OCR progress. The external dialog box automatically closes
and focus returns to OpenBook after scanning is complete. The
external dialog box may also interfere with canceling a scan and
background scanning.
- Can
this scanner scan a legal-sized document?
No, there is no way to scan legal-sized documents. The scanner
does not have an automatic document feeder (ADF), and the scanning
area is only 11.7 inches long.
- Using this scanner, can a user
change the scanning contrast from within OpenBook?
No. Using
the TWAIN driver causes a contrast problem. OpenBook is set by
default to use Automatic contrast, and when this scanner uses
the TWAIN driver, it fails to scan a usable image. You must set
OpenBook's contrast to a manual setting so that TWAIN can scan
a usable image. Contrast adjustments are ignored, but the image
is usable. Using the WIA driver, if available, will prevent this
problem. However, contrast adjustments are still ignored.
- Using this scanner, can a user
cancel scanning from within OpenBook? When
using the TWAIN driver, canceling the scan in OpenBook’s dialog
box before the external dialog box displays causes a slight delay,
but canceling is successful. If the external dialog box displays,
you must cancel the scan there first, and then cancel it in the
OpenBook dialog box. After you have done this, the scan is canceled
immediately and focus returns to OpenBook.
If you cancel the scan in the external dialog box and do not cancel
the scan in OpenBook, then the program will try to process the
portion that was scanned. When using the WIA driver, canceling
scanning works normally.
- Can this scanner scan in the
background? Yes. However,
using the TWAIN drivers causes an external dialog box to display.
You can instruct OpenBook to read the document, begin scanning
in the background, press ALT+TAB to switch back to OpenBook,
and then start reading again. Alternatively, you can begin scanning
in the background, switch back to OpenBook, and then start
reading. Using the WIA driver in Windows XP or ME does not display

v2.0 drivers. OneTouch v2.2 drivers come with the 8650,
but these drivers cause an external dialog to display while scanning.
OneTouch v2.0 drivers do not have this problem.
- The 8650 comes with an ADF, but
it will not work with OpenBook no matter what drivers are installed.
The ADF will work with Visioneer's software when OneTouch v2.2
drivers are installed, but not when v2.0 is installed. This
is because the PC will think that the connected scanner is an
8600 instead of an 8650 if v2.0 is used. So keep in mind,
when using OneTouch v2.0 drivers for optimum OpenBook scanning,
you will have to reinstall OneTouch v2.2 drivers for ADF use outside
of OpenBook.

Test Results: |
- Is
scanning free of any external dialogs? Yes
and no. A user will not experience any external dialogs
while using the Visioneer 8600 OneTouch v2.0 drivers. Using
the Visioneer 8650 OneTouch drivers will cause an external dialog
to display while scanning.
- Can
this scanner scan a legal-sized document? No.
The scanner does have an ADF, but it will not work with OpenBook,
and the scanning area is only 11.69 inches. Therefore, there
is no way to scan legal-sized documents.
- Using this scanner, can a user
change the scanning contrast from within OpenBook? Yes.
Contrast can be altered using OpenBook.
- Using
this scanner, can a user cancel scanning from within OpenBook?
Yes and no. Scanning
can be canceled easily through OpenBook when using the older 8600
OneTouch v2.0 drivers. Using the Visioneer 8650 OneTouch
drivers will cause an external dialog to be displayed while scanning.
This external dialog will have focus. Unless a screen reader
is being used, the user will be without speech, but pressing the
spacebar will cancel the scan through the external dialog.
Unfortunately, the portion of the document that was already scanned
will be processed and displayed within OpenBook.
- Can
this scanner scan in the background? Yes
and no. This scanner can 'scan in the background', when
using the older Visioneer 8600 OneTouch v2.0 drivers. Using
the Visioneer 8650 OneTouch drivers, an external dialog will be
displayed while scanning. This takes away focus from OpenBook,
which prevents OpenBook from reading the document currently displayed.
- Did this scanner pass the 500
page stress test? This
scanner was able to handle the stress of continuous scanning.
- How long does this scanner take
to scan a page using OpenBook’s default settings? This
scanner's average scan time with OpenBook's default settings was
about 20 seconds.

Test Results: |
- Is
scanning free of any external dialogs?
An external dialog displays when using the TWAIN drivers, but
focus always returns to OpenBook when scanning is finished.
When using the WIA drivers (Windows ME and XP), no external dialog
displays.
- Can
this scanner scan a legal-sized document?
No. Without an automatic document feeder (ADF) and only
an 11.7 inch scanning area, there is no way to scan legal-sized
documents.
- Using this scanner, can a user
change the scanning contrast from within OpenBook?
No. Contrast cannot be altered
through OpenBook.
-
Using this scanner, can a user cancel scanning from within OpenBook?
An external dialog displays
if you are using
the TWAIN drivers. You must cancel the external dialog first,
and then cancel the OpenBook dialog. If you only cancel
the external dialog, OpenBook attempts to process the portion
of the document that was scanned and then displays an external
ABBYY Finereader error stating the lack of objects for recognition.
If you cancel the OpenBook dialog before the external dialog displays,
then a long pause occurs before the dialog actually closes and
you can begin scanning again. When using the WIA drivers,
no external dialog is displayed, so canceling a scan is easy.
-
Can this scanner scan in the background?
When using the TWAIN drivers, the external
dialog initially blocks access to OpenBook while scanning in the
background. But you can press ALT+TAB to switch back
to OpenBook
to
resume reading or working once the background scanning begins.
Using the WIA drivers, background scanning is performed easily
because no external dialog is displayed.
- Did this scanner pass the 500
page stress test?
Yes. This scanner was able to handle the stress of continuous
scanning.
- How long does this scanner take
to scan a page using OpenBook’s default settings?
This scanner's average scan time with OpenBook's default settings
is about 26 seconds.

-
Using this scanner, can a user cancel scanning from within OpenBook?
If
scanning is canceled before the external dialog displays, then
canceling is easy. However, if the
external dialog displays before you attempt to cancel the scan,
then the you must cancel the external dialog first and then cancel
the OpenBook scanning dialog. Once this is done, the scan
is canceled immediately and focus returns to OpenBook. If
you cancel the external dialog and do not cancel OpenBook’s dialog,
then OpenBook will try to process the portion that was scanned.
-

- The older Perfection 636U also works well
with OpenBook. An ADF option is available, making batch and legal-sized
scanning possible, but a defect in the ADF design prevents scanning
from the flatbed while the ADF is propped fully open. It is recommended
users disconnect the rear ADF cable before scanning from the flatbed.
