Product Name: JAWS

Version: 6.0

Category: MSN Messenger

Short Description:

When using Advanced verbosity, JAWS does not read certain status messages, data, and window text.

Problem:

In MSN Messenger, JAWS does not read certain status messages, data, and window text if you select the Advanced verbosity level.

Solution:

The following script files include changes which allow JAWS to read this information in all verbosity levels. Do the following to replace the scripts included with JAWS 6.0:

1. Download the updated MSN Messenger scripts from ftp://ftp.freedomscientific.com/users/hj/private/WebFiles/Tools/MSNMsgrFix600410.zip

This .zip file includes the following files: MSNmsgs.ini, MSNmsgs.jsd, MSNmsgs.jsh, MSNmsgs.jsm, MSN Messenger.jcf, MSN Messenger.jdf, MSN Messenger.jgf, MSN Messenger.jkm, MSN Messenger.jsb, MSN Messenger.jsd, MSN Messenger.jss, MSNHelper.jsb, MSNHelper.jsd, MSNHelper.jsm, and MSNHelper.jss

2. Press WINDOWS Key+E and navigate to the location where you saved the downloaded file.

3. Extract the contents of the .zip file to an easily accessible location.

4. In Windows Explorer, navigate to the folder you extracted the .zip file to. Press CTRL+A to select all the files, then press CTRL+C to copy them.

5. Open the Start menu and choose Programs or All Programs, JAWS60, Explore JAWS, Explore My Settings.

6. Press CTRL+V to paste the script files into your user settings folder. These new scripts will replace any existing JAWS 6.0 MSN Messenger scripts that may be in your user folder.

NOTE: Your user settings are saved in C:\Documents and Settings\[User Name]\Application Data\Freedom Scientific\JAWS\6.0\Settings\Enu (where [User Name] is the local user folder).

7. Open the Start menu and choose Programs or All Programs, JAWS60, Explore JAWS, Explore Shared Settings.

8. Press CTRL+V to paste the script files into your shared settings folder. These new scripts will replace the existing JAWS 6.0 MSN Messenger scripts placed there during the 6.0 installation.

NOTE: Your shared settings are saved in C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\Freedom Scientific\JAWS\6.0\Settings\Enu.
