Software, Scanning and Reading, OPENBook

The following Enhancements were made in OpenBook 6.01:

• The Caere MTX 11 and Recognita 11 engines have replaced earlier versions of the scanning engines.
• The new drivers for TripleTalk PCI and TripleTalk USB have been added.

The following bugs were corrected in OpenBook 6.01:

• EM dashes were being stripped when scanning and words are connected as a result. This problem has been fixed.
• Reading Voice Punctuation under Speech Settings is disabled for Via Voice until another synthesizer is installed. This problem has been fixed.
• The reading was sometimes choppy, speaking single words instead of being fluid. This problem has been fixed.
• When both SAPI and SSIL engines are installed users may experience a windows dialog asking them which synthesizer engine they want to use. This problem has been fixed.
• Installation maintenance to add another synthesizer and to set the new synthesizer as primary failed to set the new synthesizer as primary. This problem has been fixed.
• TripleTalk PCI is not working with OpenBook after installing the synthesizer. This problem has been resolved.
• FineReader was not recognizing non-Latin languages. This problem has been fixed.
• Sometimes the exact view was being displayed as sideways. This problem has been fixed.
• Opening a Word document and then saving as Word document was inserting the letter "d" before each paragraph. This problem has been fixed.
• Importing to OpenBook via Freedom Import Printer was not sending the filename. OpenBook is opening "untitled" instead. This problem has been fixed.
• ARK files scanned in OpenBook 5.0 (not 5.01) and then viewed in OpenBook 6 would cause text to physically disappear. Reading line by line read the stripped text but reading word by word would not. This problem has been fixed.
• Saving to MP3 audio, when InfoVox 230/330 is being used as OpenBook's reading voice, caused the resulting MP3 file not to sound like OpenBook's reading voice. This problem has been fixed.
• Saving to audio using InfoVox speech would cause freezing when a backslash is presented. This problem has been fixed.
• In Help, pressing F6 would move focus from navigation window to main window, but not back to navigation window from the text window. This problem has been fixed.
• Sending focus to the Text View of the Doc Map or the Template Wizard's Mark and Arrange Blocks section, via F6, then arrowing through the text could crash OpenBook. This problem has been fixed.
• When using the Classic Menus, pressing NumPad Minus was not echoing the Title and the Status Bar like Shift+NumPad Minus does when using the standard menus. This problem has been fixed.
• Opening a file which was not an ARK file and then trying to open it again from the recent file list would cause a crash. Opening it again by browsing could eventually lead to the crash. This problem has been fixed.
• The despeckle feature was causing OCR recognition to ignore Umlaut dots in small print books. This problem has been fixed.
• There was no context sensitive help for three keyboard setting controls. This problem has been fixed.
• Launchable Filter key for Word did not match the string located in the "files of type" drop down in the Save As dialog. This problem has been fixed.
• Saving a file and naming it "/" would save the file with no name followed by the extension if the user was not saving the file as an ARK file. This problem has been fixed.
• Default Print Margins for metric was 10CM. Changing the default margins was not working. This problem has been fixed.
• When saving an untitled file, there was no default filename. This problem has been fixed.
• After scanning or creating a document and then scrolling to the bottom and then up arrowing, the "up arrowing" would eventually not continue moving to the top of the document. This problem has been fixed.
• After scanning fax files, OpenBook is deleting the source document.
• Retrieving speech settings for the InfoVox synthesizer was not working correctly. This problem has been fixed.
• The were processing errors when scanning with Caere or Recognita engines and selecting non-English languages if installed Fine Reader recognition languages did not include the chosen language. This problem has been fixed.
• In some cases, spotlight was not working when an ARK file was opened or simply brought to the forefront. This prevented a say all from taking place. This problem has been fixed.
• When in Read Only mode, Skim feature was intermittently getting stuck, repeating itself, and/or stopping. This problem has been fixed.
• Saving to WPD file type was launching Word Perfect 10 if it was installed and initiating the Freedom Import Printer rather than converting the document. This problem has been fixed.
• When embossing, using Interpoint, characters were getting cut off at the end of some lines on the even pages. This problem has been fixed.
