JAWS 7.0 is Shipping to New Purchasers and SMA Holders

(St. Petersburg, Florida, October 14, 2005) – JAWS® for Windows® 7.0 English release, has been posted to the Freedom Scientific Web site and is now shipping. All single and multi-user Software Maintenance Agreement (SMA) holders will receive the upgrade by the first week of November 2005 at the latest

JAWS 7.0 is filled with new, innovative features designed
to make screen reading simpler yet more flexible for users at home, work, and in educational settings. Some of the top features are:

  • Additional new, free DAISY training modules
  • Navigation quick keys are now available in Microsoft Word in addition to Internet Explorer
  • New FSClipboard allows you to append multiple selections to the standard Windows Clipboard
  • The ability to create custom summaries in Excel, giving quick access to the most important user defined cells
  • Document Presentation Mode for viewing tables, exactly the way they appear on the screen in HTML and PDF documents, in speech and braille

Users will not want to miss JAWS 7.0 on Main Menu, a weekly one-hour technology program produced by ACB Radio, this Tuesday, October 18, at 9:00 PM eastern. Eric Damery, Vice President, Product Management Software for Freedom Scientific will discuss all the exciting new features found in this upgrade. For those who can’t listen on Tuesday, the program will be replayed every two hours on Wednesday October 19 and will then be made available on demand.

“JAWS 7.0 continues to go beyond accessibility and has focused on features and functions that increase the usability of Windows applications,” says Damery. “Users will be excited and impressed with the numerous innovations found in this year’s upgrade.”

Current SMA holders can check the status of their SMA by visiting and entering their JAWS serial number.
