Firefox Setup Information

There are two settings we recommend for configuring Mozilla® Firefox® to work better with training lessons in Surfing the Internet with JAWS and MAGic. First, we recommend changing Firefox to allow pop-ups, and second we recommend opening new pages in separate browser windows as opposed to new tab pages. To make these changes do the following:

  1. In Firefox, press ALT+T to open the Tools menu.
  2. Press O to select Options in the menu. The Options dialog box opens.
  3. Press RIGHT or LEFT ARROW to select the Content page if it is not already selected.
  4. Press TAB to move to the check box for Block pop-up windows.
  5. Uncheck this check box if it is checked by pressing SPACEBAR.
  6. Press SHIFT+TAB to move back to the Content tab.
  7. Press LEFT ARROW to move to the Tabs page.
  8. Press TAB to move to the check box for "Open new windows in a new tab instead," and press SPACEBAR to uncheck this check box.
  9. Press ENTER to close the Options dialog box. The dialog box closes and focus returns to the Web page.

When you are finished, press ALT+LEFT ARROW to return to the Surf's Up opening page.
