FSEditWhy use FSEdit?FSEdit is a word processing tool created by Freedom Scientific. While it has the same features as some other word processing tools, it also has the ability to export or print documents in braille. To get to FSEditPress the WINDOWS Key. Press P for Programs, then Press F until you reach FSEdit. (WINDOWS Key -> P -> F) (hear example) Using FSEditYou can use FSEdit like you would any other word processing tool. Below are some common functions in FSEdit. Use our practice text on your PAC Mate to get comfortable with the functions. Keys for reading the document: To read one character at a time:

To run spell check: Press ALT, then use the arrow key to move to Tools. Press ENTER. Spell checker is chosen because it is the first option. Press ENTER. (hear example) Once you press ENTER, the checker will find the first misspelled word. To hear suggestions besides the first one for corrections, press TAB. Use the arrow keys to move through the choices. When you find the one you want, press ENTER. To make the change and move to the next misspelled word, press TAB
or ALT+C. Saving a File To save, you can either press ESC or go to the File menu, then to Save As. First, you come to a field where you can enter the "Name" of the file. After naming it, press TAB to move to "Folder" to select the destination folder for your file. Once you choose a location, press TAB to move to "Type" in order to choose a format in which to save the file. There are five choices: .fsd, .brf, .rtf, .psw, .txt. If you plan to print in braille, save the file in the .brf format. Use the arrow keys to move through the choices. After choosing a format, press TAB to move to "Location." This lets you choose to save the file to the main memory or a storage card, if you have a storage card. Finally, press TAB again. You are now on the OK button
