File Explorer on the PAC Mate

File Explorer on the PAC Mate is very much like Windows Explorer on a PC computer.

Opening File Explorer

To open File Explorer, press the WINDOWS Key. Press P for Programs, then press F until you hear it announce File Explorer. Press ENTER to open File Explorer. (hear example)

File Explorer will announce the current folder.

  • To move through folders, press the UP and DOWN ARROWS.
  • To open a folder, press the RIGHT ARROW.
  • To back out of a folder, press the LEFT ARROW.
  • To find a file, when you are in a folder, press the first letter of file needed or press UP and DOWN ARROWS to move through the available files. (hear example)

Moving Files

To move files from one location to another:

  1. Find the file you wish to move
  2. Press CTRL+C to copy the file to the clipboard
  3. Press the LEFT ARROW to back out of your current location in order to find the folder where you want to paste the file. Use the steps above to find the destination folder.
  4. Press ENTER when you reach the destination folder to open it.
  5. Press CTRL+V to paste the file into the new folder. (hear example)

Creating a Folder

To create a folder in File Explorer:

  1. Press ALT to access the menu bar.
  2. Press the UP or DOWN ARROW to find the Edit menu and press ENTER.
  3. Press the UP or DOWN ARROW until you find the option for new folder and press ENTER.
  4. Type in the name of the new folder.
  5. Press ENTER. (hear example)
