Setting up E-mail on Your PAC Mate
To open your e-mail, press the Windows key. Press I for
Inbox, then press ENTER to open your Inbox. You will
hear JAWS announce "ActiveSync, 0 messages." (hear
example)
Setting up Accounts
You can set up multiple accounts for work, personal, and ActiveSync
if you want to receive some e-mails through your ActiveSync account
an others through your personal account. We will set up one account here.
You can repeat these steps to set up other accounts as you wish.
All the following steps must be completed in order to set up a new
account. If you are setting up a new account for the first time using
this guide,
it is best to keep this guide open and work through it step-by-step until
you are finished.
Creating a NEW account
- Press the ALT key the press the DOWN ARROW
to get to accounts. Press ENTER.
- Press the DOWN ARROW until you hear "new account."
Press ENTER.
- You are prompted first to enter your e-mail address. Type in your
address then press ENTER.

Configuring Your E-mail Account
- User name: Type in your e-mail address. Press TAB
to move to the next field.
- Password: Type in your password. You will hear "star-star
..." as you enter your password. Press TAB to
move to the next field.
- Save Password: You may choose to save your password.
This is a checkbox option. Press the SPACEBAR to turn
it on or off. JAWS will announce whether it is on or off. Once this
is set, press TAB to move to the next field.
- Press TAB until you reach the "Next" button
and press SPACEBAR.

Setting Account Information
Once you have set e-mail information, you will begin entering account
information. You are automatically on this page, so simply continue with
these directions from above.
- Account type: Pop3 is the default and is correct.
Press TAB to move to the next field.
- Name: Type in your name. Press TAB to
reach the next field.
- Press TAB to reach the "Next" button and
press SPACEBAR.
- Server Information - Incoming Mail: Press TAB
to move to the next field.
- Server Information - Outgoing Mail: With both incoming
mail and outgoing mail, you hear JAWS announce "SMTP POP.domain.net."
The correct SMTP address for sending and receiving e-mail will be inferred,
based on the e-mail address you provide. Press TAB to
move to the next field.
- Domain: do not fill this in. Press TAB to
move to the next field.

Options for E-mail
When you press TAB from the directions above, you land
on "Options." There are few things you want to look at in Options.
- Press SPACEBAR to open Options.
- Check for Message Every: Initially, this option is
not checked. Press SPACEBAR to check this option. If
you check this option, you can specify how often Inbox checks for messages
when you are online. Press TAB to move to the next
option.
- Press TAB until you reach the "Next" button,
then press the SPACEBAR.
- Authentication: You may or may not need to check
this option. You will have to check with your e-mail provider to find
out. Press the SPACEBAR to check it. Press TAB
to move to the next option.
- Require SSL Connection: Again, this is something
you will need to find out from your provider. To check it, press the
SPACEBAR. Press TAB to move to the
next option.
- Only Display Messages From: Initially, this option
not checked. It allows you to instruct PAC Mate to show messages from
a certain number of past days. For example, you can tell PAC Mate to
show you messages from the last five days. Press TAB to
move to the next option.
- Press TAB to the "Next" button and press
SPACEBAR.
- Get Messages Headers Only: What you are being asked
to choose here is whether to download message headers only or to download
the entire entire message. Press the DOWN ARROW to
get full messages. Press TAB to move to the next option.
- FINISH: Press TAB until you hear
the "Finish" button. Press SPACEBAR to finish.
- Download Messages Now: You will be asked if you want
to download messages now that the account is configured. Press SPACEBAR
to say, "Yes." \Messages will be downloaded if you are connected.
