Product Name: TestTalker
Version: 1.0
Category: Speech
Short
Description:
You should avoid
removing ViaVoice when TestTalker is installed after WYNN.
Problem:
When you have
WYNN installed and then you install TestTalker, removing ViaVoice
from Add/Remove Programs will cause speech problems on Woindows
2000/XP/NT operating systems. When you try to remove ViaVoice,
the first thing that occurs is a Component transfer error 1, and
ViaVoice will not fully uninstall. You will have no problem removing
the Spanish ViaVoice; the problem is only with the English. Upon
doing this, when trying to open TestTalker, the program will not
speak or will speak incorrectly. Even when you run Repair from
the TestTalker CD, this does not fix the problem.
Solution:
In order to get
your system in a stable state, you must first reboot, then follow
these steps:
- Reinstall WYNN
from the CD.
- Go into
Add or Remove Programs and select IBM ViaVoice Technology (the
non-Spanish version).
- Select Change/Remove.
Then select Modify.
- Place a
check mark in these three fields: Help files, Shared DLLs, System
DLLs; then select Next.
- You may
have to reinsert your WYNN CD at this point and navigate to your
CD-ROM drive. If, for example, your CD-ROM drive is E,
then navigate
to E:\W-langs\US\
- Select OK.
Your system should be back to normal. If TestTalker still does
not speak correctly, you will now be able to run Repair
from the TestTalker
CD and it should bring everything back to normal.
