September, 2005
Back to School Issue

We hope you've had a great summer and are looking forward to
the start of school as much as we are. We've had a busy summer
and want to share with you all the things we've been working
on for you.
INTRODUCING WYNN 4
WYNN 4 has arrived! The dynamic literacy tool has a number of new
options and enhancements to ensure reading success. The new features
are the result of months of research and user input. This month we're
going to highlight some of the new features and how you'll be
able to use them.

Toolbar additions
To further enhance learning and comprehension,
WYNN 4 now allows users to add, change and view Text Notes and Voice
Notes in the Exact View and Text View of a document. These new features
provide even more methods to increase individual engagement in the
learning process. In addition, Exact View has been improved to provide
a brighter and crisper view of the page.
Homophones
Another great
new feature is homophones, you know, those words that sound the
same but have different meaning and spellings. They can cause problems
for even the best readers and writers. WYNN 4 is able to verify
correct usage in the document. The homophones work within the custom
definitions available from Wordsmyth, the leading electronic and
print reference company.
AT&T
Natural VoicesTM
In
response to user requests, WYNN 4 now includes AT&T Natural
Voices TM for high quality and more human-sounding voices. English
and Spanish languages are standard and other languages are available.
Users still have the option of using ViaVoice Outloud™, IBM's
precise-sounding speech synthesizer.
Convert
Your Documents
WYNN users can now save and convert any document into MP3 or WAV
files. This allows the user to listen to a file later at their convenience
using any MP3 compatible device, including portable devices like
iPods™.

Scientific LSG In the News
We think WYNN and TestTalker are great products but there's
nothing like hearing it from some of the most respected publications
in the education industry. The May issue of Technology & Learning
featured a review of TestTalker. You can read it at http://www.freedomscientific.com/LSG/about/tnl5903-final.pdf.
The summer issue of the highly respected Children's Technology
Review also reviewed both WYNN and TestTalker.

One thing our users all agree on is that whether you are in the
third grade or in your 30's, WYNN is great for everyone. We're talking
with adult users of WYNN to see how they use it outside the classroom
setting.
